Who is Hope Over Addiction for?
Hope Over Addiction is a group for those that are struggling with addiction or love someone that is struggling with addiction and are looking to find peace, healing and joy again in their journey.
What is our Mission?
Our mission is to encourage you to fall more in love with Jesus and deepen your faith as you overcome the challenges you face with addiction in your life and come together in a community of other believers that understand where you are -right here, right now.
Our vision is to be a safe, encouraging community of believers that arms people with the truth, knowledge, and the tools to overcome addiction in their lives and families.
What are the goals of this group?
The goals of Hope Over Addiction are:
1.) To be a community of hope, encouragement and support. There is a lot of stigma and shame that surrounds addiction and we want to be a safe place that removes these labels and allows those that are battling with addiction in their lives the freedom to be real, honest, and in a community that understands. You do not have to be perfect here to belong!
2.) To shine the light of His truth into our lives. The Bible has a lot to say about addiction and the battle that we face. We seek to continue to grow in the knowledge of who He is and what He says about us and look at our lives through the lens of truth instead of the lies that attempt to keep us from the hope that we have in Him.
3.) To walk away each week with tools to continue to overcome in our lives. There are a lot of amazing programs out there that are equipping people with coping skills, solutions, and techniques that are incredibly helpful in overcoming addiction. We want to share any collective wisdom that we find together as a group that has helped us on our path. We believe that this group is a collaborative effort and if you have discovered a book, scripture, resource, podcast, strategy that has been effective for you- please share!
What Hope Over Addiction is NOT:
1.) We are not a program that has a one size fits all solution, a step-by-step list to tick, or a specific requirements that you need to meet in order to be accepted into the community and participate in sharing your story and wisdom. Each person’s story and journey is different and there are hundreds of steps on your journey with Jesus. Whether you are taking your first step or your hundredth your unique perspective is valued, appreciated, and an important contribution to our community.
2.) We are not sponsors that you need to check in with, licensed therapist or trained pastors. We are other overcomers on the same journey that you are on and we do not have all the answers. However, we do know the one that does have all the answers and we know that He is more than enough for all of us. We are happy to share our story of what He has done in our lives and pass along all the resources, helpful tools, and encouraging wisdom that we have gathered on the way.
3.) We are not a group that believes that once an addict always an addict. We believe, “Who the Lord sets free is free indeed.” As the Lord is breaking the chains in our life and tearing down the strongholds that keep us from freedom, we declare the truth of what He paid for on the cross and will continue agreeing with His word, by faith, until we see in the natural what is already been made a reality by Jesus.
